Ultrasound scan

What is Ultrasound scan?

Ultrasound Scan is a common non‑invasive medical imaging technique. Medical staff use a probe to emit high‑frequency sound waves (>20 kHz) that cause varying echoes at the boundaries of organs and tissues. The machine's receiver detects these echoes and creates images of the scanned area. The procedure involves no radiation and is painless, and it can detect organ size and shape, cysts or masses, and the presence of fluid, inflammation, or tissue damage.

Ultrasound scan is commonly used for the thyroid, abdomen and pelvis, breast, blood vessels, and interventional procedures.
